India and America share a common legacy and a common future. As practicing democracies, both are committed to cultural diversity, a free press, an open economy and a growing private sector. We need to build on these solid foundations with common strategies and a common pool of resources.

Friends of Fulbright India, Inc. is a non-profit organization formed in 1993 by former Fulbright scholars to India who have an ongoing interest in promoting academic exchange between the USA and India.

Friends of Fulbright India (FFI) organizes programs and raises funds to be used for strengthening the world of scholarship through its support of U.S.-India Fulbright programs. Funds are used for supporting student grantee travel to India, organizing seminars, cultural programs and welcome receptions for American and Indian scholars.

FFI was set up by the initiative of some Fulbrighters and with the assistance of the U.S. Educational Foundation in India USEFI. The FFI honors the memory of the late Senator J. William Fulbright, who promoted mutual understanding between America and the rest of the world through the unique educational and cultural exchange program that bears his name.

Friends of Fulbright is operated by former Fulbrighters who volunteer their time. The organization is recognized as tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions to the organization are tax deductible to the extent permitted by U.S. law.

The distinguished alumni of the Fulbright program in India - both Indian and American- are proof of its effectiveness and its relevance in a time of improving cultural and commercial ties between the two countries. FFI seeks to strengthen the Indo-U.S. exchange program in fulfillment of Senator Fulbright's mission.
