The success of the Indo-U.S. Fulbright program has been based to a significant degree on the active involvement of reputed institutions in both India and the United States. The program is building on this success by expanding cultural as well as commercial ties in the changing economic environment in India.

Appreciating the value and the potential of this program, Indian industry in recent years has collaborated with USEFI on some Fulbright grants for Indians. The Fulbright travel grants, for example, have been augmented by Fulbright-Tata Travel Fellowships, co-sponsored by the Tata Trusts and USEFI. In addition, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and USEFI, recognizing the close nexus between industry and the academic community in an era of globalization of trade, have jointly launched the Leadership in Management Fellowships for mid-career executives in Indian industry.

USEFI's has Memorandum of Understanding with the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal, Karnataka and the National Council for Applied Economic Research (NCAER), New Delhi for sharing the cost of two U.S. Fulbright grantees every year to be placed at each institute. While at MAHE's support for visiting lecturers, NCAER supports one student and one researcher.
