The success of the Indo-U.S. Fulbright
program has been based to a significant degree on the
active involvement of reputed institutions in both India
and the United States. The program is building on this
success by expanding cultural as well as commercial
ties in the changing economic environment in India.
Appreciating the value and the potential
of this program, Indian industry in recent years has
collaborated with USEFI on some Fulbright grants for
Indians. The Fulbright travel grants, for example, have
been augmented by Fulbright-Tata Travel Fellowships,
co-sponsored by the Tata Trusts and USEFI. In addition,
the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and USEFI,
recognizing the close nexus between industry and the
academic community in an era of globalization of trade,
have jointly launched the Leadership in Management Fellowships
for mid-career executives in Indian industry.
USEFI's has Memorandum of Understanding
with the Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE),
Manipal, Karnataka and the National Council for Applied
Economic Research (NCAER), New Delhi for sharing the
cost of two U.S. Fulbright grantees every year to be
placed at each institute. While at MAHE's support for
visiting lecturers, NCAER supports one student and one
researcher.
