Your contribution to the myriad of activities that the Friends of Fulbright India (FFI) supports will go a long way in helping us promote the study of India among U.S. academicians, professionals and students. In addition, by joining hands with FFI, you can extend support to U.S. scholars to help them better prepare for research and teaching experiences in India and with cultural adjustment during and after exchange visits. You can also reciprocate the hospitality received in India by welcoming Indian Fulbrighters at home, in community organizations and for professional interactions at your institutions.
We also need your assistance with recruitment. As a result of the new Fulbright agreement signed on July 4, 2008, the Governments of India and the United States have agreed to implement the Fulbright program as full partners and increase by 100% the total fellowship amount awarded annually. The Foundation is now called the "U.S.-India Educational Foundation" (USIEF) awarding "Fulbright-Jawaharlal Nehru Scholarships and Grants".
By working closely with FFI and the 18 Fulbright alumni chapters in India, we hope to motivate potential applicants to apply in ever increasing numbers for Fulbright fellowships. Please help us get the word out to students and professors about these increased opportunities for study, research and teaching. To learn more about USIEF's activities and to direct potential scholars to resources on studying in India and the U.S., please visit USIEF’s website at www.fulbright-india.org.
Finally, USIEF is grateful to FFI for raising funds to support Fulbright student travel to India and other activities. FFI complies with Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and donations to it may be treated as charitable deductions to the extent provided by U.S. law. Your generous contributions to FFI will enable USIEF's Fulbright funds to reach more scholars.
With thanks and best wishes,
